Majuro or Mājro as in the Marshallese language, It is capital of Marshall Islands. Majuro also is largest city of Marshall Islands. Marshall Islands are located in the Pacific Ocean. This Atoll forms the Ratak Chain of Legislative district of Marshall Islands; the Ratak Chain translates to Sunrise chain.

The Area of this Atoll is about 9.6 km2 which is 3.68 square miles of land. The lagoon enclosed by this atoll is 295 kilometres square which is 114 square miles of waters. Humans have populated Majuro since 2000 years; the first humans to settle in Majuro were the ancestral Austronesian people of Marshallese people living there now.

Marshall Islands were seized by the German forces in the year 1885 making Majuro their main trading post. Later on this city was also annexed by the Americans and the Japanese. But when in the year 1978, Marshall Islands separated from Federated States of Micronesia; it formed the Republic of Marshall Islands. When the Republic of Marshall Islands was formed, Majuro was made capital of the country replacing the old capital of Jaluit.

The primary centre of population is Delap Uliga Djarrit or in short DUD. Its population is more than some 21,000 people. Majuro also has an airport, seaport, hotels and shopping areas.

The Power corporations, authorities, private businesses, entrepreneurs, start-ups and companies are researching about oils from coconut to use it as a form of fuel for automobile and ships, electric generators or ships. The average coconuts from the tropical islands of the Pacific Ocean can provide 1 Litre of oil per 6 to 9 coconuts. These coconut trees are abundant in Marshall Islands.

AIR TRAVEL

Majuro is an International airport (MAJ) with flights to and from places like Honolulu (HNL) Hawaii, Woja (WJA) Marhall Islands, Kwajalein Islands (KWA) in Marshall Islands and Pohnpei (PNI).

Marshall Islands International Airport or Marshall Islands Amata Kabua International Airport is located at Lagoon Rd, Majuro Atoll, Marshall Islands. It is referred to as MAJ or PKMJ.

Air Marshall Island Airways offers a daily service of flight between the Majuro Atoll and the Kwajalein Atoll, the airline usually flies at least once a week to almost all populated atolls of Marshall Islands once in a week.

SEA TRAVEL

The Lagoon of Majuro is an operational port and also among the most busy Tuna trans-shipment ports of the world. Here Tuna is unloaded from one ship and then loaded on another ship for further shipment. It also operates as a harbour for many commercial vessels, commercial fishing vessels, cruise ships and fishing boats.

Many Marshallese government vessels ship people and cargo around Marshall Islands. The ships are primary method of transportation for the people and support inbound and outbound from the other islands.
